his is, of course, huge news, as a video-capable iPod has been hyped for ages. The linchpin of whether or not Jobs would release such an iPod has always been the practicality of such a device, and he's taken care of that in the upcoming release of iTunes 6.
The most exciting feature of iTunes 6 is the ability to download music videos, movies (from Disney-owned Pixar), and TV shows (from Disney-owned ABC) for only $1.99. And with the video out function of the new iPod, you can either watch on your iPod, or plug it in and watch on your TV.

The TV shows (from ABC only) available for download include Desperate Housewives and Lost, along with three other ABC/Disney shows. Current episodes will be made available the day after they air. Additionally, shows are commercial-free, which is really good news. Download speeds for one episode should be about ten to twenty minutes for $1.99. You can even download episodes from the previous season.
Personal media players with the ability to play video are certainly not new, but it looks like Apple is hoping to take is dominance of the digital audio landscape to video. If nothing else, this is a huge step forward in accessibility and portability of digital entertainment. It will be very interesting to watch where things progress from here.
